Marjorie, Operational Manager, at Pharmacos ARA since 2017

Explain your job to a 10-year-old or to your grandmother/grand-uncle/nephew, etc.
My job is to make sure that the vaccine manufacturing process is always as efficient as possible, whatever changes are made to it.  We have to guarantee that the quality of the vaccines remains the same over time by confirming that it is effective (the vaccine protects me well) and safe (the vaccine has no other side effects on me). Lastly, the manufacturing process has to be optimized in order to be at the cutting edge of technology, novelties and innovation (equipment, process etc…).

What is your educational background ?
I did a scientific course in biochemistry with a specialisation in immunology which I completed with a more quality-oriented BAC+5.

How did your adventure at Pharmacos begin ?
I have been working in the consulting world since 2005 with many contacts in other service companies.  In 2016, I wanted to change companies while remaining a consultant but integrating a more human-sized company with the ambition to develop in the field of biotechnology. So I did a little benchmarking and my decision was made!

What aspects of your job do you enjoy the most?
What I like the most about my job is having the dual role of manager/consultant. This allows me to have a novel experience by developing my management skills, which is new to me. In the context of my assignments with clients, what I like the most is being able to change the subject and juggle several products/processes. I also like being in contact with many people and being able to develop a large network of knowledge/competences.

How did Pharmacos help you develop your skills? 
When I took on my responsibilities as a manager, Pharmacos supported me through a very enriching training programme that was very much in line with my level as a junior manager. I can therefore put this training to good use on a daily basis and this is very rewarding.

What three words best describe Pharmacos for you?
Dynamism, ambition, expertise.

What advice would you give to new recruits?
To be curious, learn from the experience of “seniors” while bringing their “freshness” and their new perspective to the company. And above all, not to hesitate to ask for advice if necessary, the important thing being to share one’s knowledge.

What do you like most about Pharmacos?
The human relations, the good understanding within the team and the ambition to develop to become the market leader.

What has been your proudest moment since you have been at Pharmacos?
The first time when, as a manager, I took part in a job interview on the recruiting side!

From your point of view, what is Pharmacos’ added value on the fixed-price consulting and engineering market?
The consideration given to staff and the proximity of managers.

What is your dream activitity for the next team building?
Even if we have a mask on, snorkelling in the Bahamas… 😉
